I'm having a hard time keeping up with the blog lately. As you probably noticed. Now, I have been legitimately busy. Our HOMESTUDY is FINISHED!!! That's right, my awesome amazing social worker and our state fingerprinting labs have really out done themselves this time. In exactly 2 weeks from start to finish I have a notarized homestudy ready to send on to the next step. I talked to Jilma (aka WonderWoman) and she said it could still be awhile until we get a referral because she is processing a quazillion adoptions ahead of us, but just knowing that my part of the work is basically done is a relief.
Also in the last two weeks we had our humongous spectacular garage sale. We made over $1100, which was enough to cover our homestudy. Yippee!!! Our 2009 taxes (which my fabulous sister in law does for free) should cover the next chunk that we have to send in to the U S of A. People often want to know how much our adoptions cost. I never ask how much they spent on maternity clothes or ultrasounds! But anyway, I always point out that a large chunk of the cost stays here in our country.
On a sour note, my car was broken into and my cheap stereo was stolen. It was parked in my driveway and happened in the middle of the night. The stereo is probably worth all of about $5 on the black market, but it has been a real drag driving back and forth to work without my NPR. I feel so uninformed.
And I just finished an exhausting 2 weeks at school. We had a week of heinous standardized testing and then I opened a show of student written plays. But we now have only 17 days left of classes. Yes, I'm counting down the days. I am so excited for this summer. Haven and Grace are both well on their way to becoming swimmers, we have a reunion with our China travel group and the OFA families. It will be a summer filled with hours of kid fun and photo ops.
I think we're all pretty excited!
I will try to be a better blogger. I should start by taking more pictures!!!
