The Leibster Award--I won I won

If you're a blogger, one of the best things you can find in your in-box is a positive comment from one of your readers.  So what could be better than to read the following comment:

"Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation!!! Love the dance videos!!! I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. Please visit my blog for details. http://worldofweeks.com/"

An award???? For my blog???? WhoooHOOOO!  Thanks to my sweet friend Debbie Weeks, I just got a lovely boost to my day.  Debbie and I are long time internet friends.  She brought home a daughter right around the same time we brought Grace home.  And then we were both on the adoption roller coaster together a second time, she in Ethiopia and me in Congo.  In addition to adoption, we share a family name. Weeks is my mother's maiden name, so somewhere down the line we might be long lost cousins.

The Liebster Award is a blogger to blogger award.  It’s one blogger recognizing another blogger who has less than 200 followers.  Which means that now that I have been nominated I also get to nominate someone else for the award.  I love that!  So here are the rules:

1.Thank the Liebster Blog presenter who nominated you and link back to their blog.
Thank you Debbie!  I love you and your adorable girls and your blog!
2.Post 11 facts about yourself, answering the 11 questions you were asked and create 11 questions for your nominees.
See my answers below
3.Nominate 11 blogs who you feel deserve to be noticed and leave a comment on their blog letting them know they have been chosen.
Also listed below
4.Display the Liebster Award logo.
That's what you see up top
5.No tag backs, meaning you can’t just re-nominate the person who nominated you.

So here are the 11 questions Debbie wanted me to answer!
  1. How many pets did you have as a child? I had one dog named Smokey.  He was a cockapoo.  We got him at the pound right after my mom had my youngest sister.  He had to be put to sleep when I was just starting 9th grade.  We never had another family pet after that, except my dad had fish.
  2. How many different states have you visited?  I've lived in 4: California, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Texas.  I'm ready for a move.  Where should we head next?
  3. Do you prefer winter, spring, summer or fall?  Definitely fall.  It's not cold yet, but not too hot.  I love fall colors and my birthday is in October.
  4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Back to China. Best 3 weeks of my life.
  5. Sweet or salty?  Sweet.  I have a strong love for Dr. Pepper that I am trying break!
  6. What is your favorite movie of all time?  I really have no good answer for this one.  I can say that The Green Mile made me cry harder than any movie ever.
  7. What is the first name of your childhood best friend? Karen.  I have no idea what ever happened to her.
  8. What is your biggest fear? Something bad happening to my children.
  9. If you won $1,000,000, what would you do with the money?  I would adopt another girl from China, I would buy a homestead (yes, Debbie, I seriously would), and then would build an orphanage/hospital for special needs kids in Congo, and Kristie Craig would be it's director.  I would split my time between there and my homestead.
  10. When you were a child, what did you hope to be when you grew up?  When I was really little a figure skater or ballerina, later a scientist specializing in rocks.  In high school, I saw myself as a future political activist.  I never pictured myself as a theatre teacher or a mother.  Look at me now!
  11. What one song must you turn up and sing along with?  Anything by Barbara Streisand. I've always secretly believed that i sound a lot like her when I sing, so I really like to belt it out when I hear one of her songs.
This part was very hard.  Below are 11 blogs that I have chosen for the Liebster Award.  I'm going to be totally honest with you, I don't get to read much of anything any more.  I sneak onto the computer once or twice a day, I throw together the occasional blog post, and check the orders at More Love Mama.  But there are some wonderful blogs that I catch when I can. Unfortunately, some that I love the most are private, but here are my 11 choices in no particular order.  You should all pop over and visit them!

Alama ya Kitumaini
Daddy Go to Time Out    Yes, this is Brian's blog, but I still think it's pretty swell!

And finally, Leibster Nominees, here are the 11 questions I want you to answer on your blogs. Once you've answered please let me know so I can see all your answers!

1. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
2. Do you have any special skill that most people don't know about?
3. What was the song or movie that defined your high school years?
4. If I had time to read one book this year what would you recommend?
