Little Dresses for Africa

A few weeks ago I came across a website for an organization called "Little Dresses for Africa". I was so moved by the groups mission that I am trying to share it with as many people as possible. In a nutshell:
Little Dresses for Africa is an non-profit, Christian based organization which provides relief to the children of Central Africa. Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages in Central Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!
I shared this project with my students at school and they have decided to take this on as a community service project. I am the director of a high school theatre department and we construct most of our own costumes, so this project was the perfect fit for our program. Over the course of the spring semester we will be collecting donated pillowcases and making dresses. Our goal is to produce 1000 dresses!!! I am so excited about this project and my students are so enthusiastic.

Here's how you can help:
1. Donate new or very gently used pillowcases, scrap fabric (1yd or
more), thread, 1/2 inch elastic, double bias tape, trims and ribbons.
2. Make a dress and donate it to Little Dresses for Africa or add it to our collection
3. Visit and share the website of Little Dresses for Africa. Just raising awareness of the plight of orphans around the world can help make a difference in their lives. The more people know, the harder it is for them to ignore.

If you live out of my area and you would like to mail a donation to our project, please email me at frednphil@comcast.net and I will get you the mailing address for our school. Thank you in advance for your help and your compassion for the little children of the world living without a mommy and daddy this Christmas.
